Dry skin can be a burden: it flakes when you apply make up, it can be itchy, and it can cause you to become self-conscious. As with all skin types, there are ways you can limit the effect of your dry skin by having a good skincare routine.
Part of your skincare routine should involve a rich moisturiser if you have dry skin. If applied twice daily, this will keep skin hydrated and smooth. It will also make your foundation application much easier, as it will banish flakey skin. If you use a moisturiser frequently and consistently, hopefully you will begin to see a difference within a few weeks.

Moisturise damp skin
If you apply your moisturiser when your skin is damp after a bath or shower, this will help to lock in moisture. Pat your skin with a towel before applying your moisturiser. Leave your face to dry naturally whilst the product soaks in for gorgeously smooth skin.
Choose the right cleansers
When buying cleansers and face washes, make sure you buy hydrating ones. Ones that are aimed at oily skin will cause your skin to dry out more, especially ones that are extremely exfoliating. Gentle exfoliation is a good idea once a week with dry skin, but over exfoliating will cause your skin to become even drier.

Hydrate from the inside
We have said this on our blog before, but it is super important to drink plenty of water. Hydrating your body from the inside will hydrate your skin too.
Protect your skin from the elements
Cover up as much as possible to protect your skin from the weather, especially now the winter months are coming. It’s also a good idea to wear a hydrating lip balm to keep your pout chap free.
